Contrario de lo que pueda parecer, no me he vuelto minimalista.  Es cierto que estos diseños son menos elaborados que lo que suelo hacer, pero tiene una muy buena explicación. Veréis:

Hace un par de años más o menos estuve en México con el esposo y me traje infinidad de piedras semi-preciosas, a cual más bonita (aquí el esposo añadiría "y pesadas" porque casi tuvimos que pagar exceso de equipaje de lo que pesaban mi piedras... pero es que eran todas tan bonitas...).  Bueno, pues eso, que me traje un montón. 

Ya he utilizado casi todas, pero había algunos hilos que me parecían especialmente bonitos, y me quería esmerar y hacer con ellas y diseño espectacular y muy elaborado.  He hecho mil pruebas con ellas y nada me acababa de convencer, nada hacía que las piedras lucieran como se merecían.... Y esa era la respuesta, realmente son tan bonitas que sólo les hacía falta un diseño sencillo para destacar.

A mi me encantan, porque creo que describen muy bien mi estilo, diseño bonito, cómodo (con tres niños pequeños, la comodidad es muy importante) y especial.  Las piedras son facetadas y naturales - me encanta trabajar con piedras naturales, son menos regulares pero creo que le aportan a todo un encanto especial.

Contrary to what it may seem, I have not turned minimalistic. It is true that these designs are less elaborate than the ones I usually do, but it has a very good explanation.

About two years ago I went to Mexico with my husband and I brought with a me a lot of semi-precious stones, each one more beautiful than the next (and this is where my husband would add "and heavier" because we almost had to pay for excess baggage... but they were all so beautiful!).  Anyway, yes, I did bring a lot with me.

I have almost already used all of them, however, there were a few strands which I found specially beautiful, and I really wanted to produce something extra-special and design something amazing and elaborate with them.  I have tried over a hundred designs and none of them really worked, I could not make them stand out as they should... and that really was the quid of the thing, they are so gorgeous, that what they needed was a simple design to bring forth their gorgeousness.

I love these, I really think they envision my style really well, a beautiful design, easy to wear (with three kids,  easy to wear jewelry is important) and quite special.  I have used natural faceted stones - I love working with natural stones, they are more irregular and sometimes harder to work with but I think they give a special charm to each design.

El Nómada Market finalizó el domingo por la noche.  Tres días muy intensos, de mucho trabajo pero también repletos de alegrías.

Yo siempre digo que lo mejor de las Ferias es la gente que conoces.  Los clientes y toda esa gente maravillosa que toma su tiempo para visitar tu puesto, comprar, probarse, contarte cosas... que si son fans de las cosas Victorianas, que si te conocen por el Facebook... Me encanta charlar con mis clientas, y con cierta frecuencia descubro que tenemos muchos puntos en común.  A todos los que os pasasteis a conocer mis diseños, mil gracias.

También quiero hablar de esas otras personas que son fundamentales para las Ferias y que son los artistas.  En esta edición del Nómada he conocido a gente maravillosa que han hecho que para mi, la feria fuera todavía mejor.

La dulce Isa, derrochando arte y buen gusto con sus collares y camisetas. Vicky de Kishboo y sus originales y  divinos complementos y Cristina de Serenart que es de mi equipo de etsy y me hizo mucha ilusión conocerla a ella y a su trabajo.

Y ya puestos, quiero dar las gracias a más personas porque para mi, está edición del Nómada ha sido un poco complicada - ya sabeis, una de esas épocas en las que la vida se te complica a momentos - y sin el apoyo de mi familia y amigos me hubiera sido imposible asistir. Bueno, ahí van:

A mi esposo y mis 3 hijos - mis mayores fans y talismanes de la suerte particulares.  Además, quiero felicitar a mi hijo de 5 años que en esta ocasión no me tiró el stand ni una sola vez. Bravo! (en su visita a la ultima feria que hice tuve que recolocar todo como unas 7 veces).

A mi hermano y mis hermanas que son mis musas por el apoyo moral y artístico via Wassap (nos separan kilómetros y Océanos) - ainss que me gustan las nuevas tecnologías!

Al resto de la familia y amigas por el apoyo logístico con los niños. Gracias!!! Ser madre de familia numerosa es muy enriquecedor pero en ocasiones puede ser un tanto complicado.

Nomada Market finished last Sunday and I am happy to say that it was a great success.

 Organizing it all was a lot of work but well worth it, specially for all the wonderful people that I have had the pleasure of meeting.

I want to thank all the people who came to visit my stand. Old and new clients as well as friends and family.  I am so grateful to all of you who gave up some of your time (for time is precious) to come to see me. Thank you.

My fellow artists.  I have met so many inspiring and creative people this weekend, and they were so sweet and helpful too!  I hope we will be able to work together again in the future.

I want to mention more very special people who helped me to get everything together.  My husband and our three kids.  They are my greatest fans and my very own lucky charms.  My brother and sisters who are my muses and my artistic advisors.  Extended family and friends who helped me with the kids. Having three little ones is very rewarding but at times, it can get very complicated.

To all of you, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Mi Firma en el Nómada Market - My Firm at Nómada Market

Confirmado.  Mi firma ha sido seleccionada para la próxima edición del Nómada Market que se celebrará en Madrid el próximo 5, 6 y 7 de Abril.

Llevo ya algunas semanas trabajando en los nuevos diseños de cara a la Primavera y que presentaré en la Feria.  Piezas muy primaverales con mucha luz, color y mucha alegría!

Confirmed. My firm has been selected to take part in the next edition of Nómada Market, which will be held in Madrid on April 5, 6 & 7.  Nómada Market is currently one of the top independent design fairs in Spain so, as you can imagine I am really happy to be able to take part again for this edition.

I have already started working on my new Spring Designs which I will present at the Nómada.  These new designs are full of  light, color, Spring and Merryment!

Feliz Día del Padre - Happy Father's Day

Hoy es el día del Padre en España.  Nosotros lo celebramos ayer porque era festivo dónde vivimos y lo celebramos "a la Española".  Qué como es eso de "a la Española"? Pues con la familia y con mucha, mucha comida, de esa que está riquísima pero que no se puede calificar de "sana" de ninguna manera... y si no miren la tarta de zanahoria que hice con doble cobertura de mantequilla, una bomba calórica.

La tarta fue mi regalo para el esposo, a petición suya por supuesto. Y mientras la hacía, como todos los años me acordé de mi padre.  El nunca probó mi versión de esta tarta, pero como también le encataba el dulce estoy segura de que le hubiera gustado... y además fijo que repetía!

Today is Father's Day in Spain.  We celebrated it yesterday because it was a holiday in our region and we did it in "Spanish Style".  And what, may you ask is this "Spanish Syle" thing? Well, it's a family celebration with loads and loads of food, of the kind that is absolutely delicious but can not in any way  called "healthy".  Just look at the Carrot Cake I made with double creamy butter frosting, a true calorie bomb, but oh ever so delicious!

The cake was my gift for my husband, his special Father's Day request.  While I was making it I could not help thinking about my father.  He never got to taste my Carrot Cake, but as he was also one with a sweet tooth, I am sure he would have liked it... and probably he would have even had a second serving!

Happy Father's Day.

Experimenting - Experimentando

Llevo años utilizando la súper cámara del esposo, siempre utilizándola en modo automático... hasta hoy que he dado el gran salto a modo manual.

Aprovechando que hoy por fin hemos tenido sol, me he pasado toda la mañana jugando con la cámara, tocando botones, moviendo rueditas y haciendo mil fotos.  

Os dejo con estas que son las que, modestamente, considero que mejor me han quedado.  Todo es claramente mejorable, pero considerando los bodrios que me han salido a primera hora de la mañana, estoy muy  contenta.

I have been using for years my husband's good camera. I always used to put it in automatic mode... until today that I have decided to take the plunge and use manual mode.

Today has been the first day in ages that we have had sun, so I have spent all morning long playing with the camera, touching buttons, moving dials and taking thousands of photos.

These are the ones, that in my modest opinion, have turned out the best.  I know that there is still ample room for improvement but, considering how terrible were the first photos I shot early this morning, I am quite pleased with the result.

Feria de Artesanos - Craft Fair

Este fin de semana he participado en la Feria de Artesanía del pueblo en el que vivo.  Es curioso, porque llevo viviendo aquí más de cinco años y me acabo de enterar de que aquí hay una gran cantidad de artistas y que desde hace un par de meses se celebra una Feria el primer fin de semana de cada mes.

Me lo he pasado muy bien, he conovecido gente encantadora, he visto cosas muy bonitas y bueno, eso de hacer una feria a 5 minutos de casa está muy bien.  He comido en casa con mi familia y cuando una clienta me ha pedido unos pendientes de un color determinado, me he acordado que tenía unos así en casa y después de comer se los he dado (y de paso he cogido el celo y los alfileres que me los había olvidado y un boli que pintase en condiciones).

He hecho un montón de fotos, algunas de mi puesto y muchas de mis compañeros de Feria.  Espero que os gusten.

This weekend I have attended a Craft Fair in the village where I live.  It's funny because I have been living here for over 5 years and it was not until very recently that l discovered that there was a quite large artist community living here and that about a couple of months ago there is a craft fair on the first weekend of each month.

I have had a lovely time, I have met charming people, have seen lot's of very pretty things and, well, doing an art fair just 5 minutes away from home is quite cool actually.  I have been able to have lunch at home with my family, and when a client asked me if I had a particular style of earrings, which I did at home, I simply picked them up and gave them to her after lunch (I also took the sticky tape and the pins which I had forgotten as well as a pen that I could actually write with).

I have taken a lot of photos, some of my stand and lot's of my colleagues.  I hope you like them.

En este 2013 que acabamos de empezar, hemos dado la bienvenida a un nuevo miembro en nuestra familia.  Mancha, la perrita más alegre del universo.

In this year of 2013 that has just started, we have welcomed into our home a new family member.  Mancha, the merriest puppy in the Universe!

Reconozco que yo tenía mis reservas, sobre todo porque no tenía muy claro como Ciro (mi hijo el peludo, como lo llama mi madre) se lo iba a tomar.  No tenía miedo de que se pusiera agresivo con ella ni mucho menos, Ciro es el perro más bueno del Universo (impresionante la paciencia que siempre ha tenido con mis tres cachorros humanos, tela mis cachorros), pero ya va teniendo una edad, y a el lo que le gusta es la paz, la tranquilidad y no tenía muy claro que eso de tener en su hogar un cachorro hiperactivo advenedizo con ganas de jugar a todas horas le fuera a molar estupendamente (no olvidemos que el llegó el primero, antes de los niños e incluso antes que yo!).

I confess I had my qualms about having a new puppy, specially as I was not too sure of how Ciro (my furry son as my mum calls him) was going to take it.  I was not scared that he was going to attack the puppy or something similar, Ciro is the kindest dog in the Universe (the patience he has always shown with my three "human puppies" has always been incredible, and my kids are of the restless kind), but he is getting on in years, and what he really likes is peace and quiet, and I was not too sure if  having a hyperactive upstart puppy chasing him to play at all time was going to be to his liking (after all, he was here first, before the kids and even before me!).

Ciro

El resultado de momento ha sido mejor de lo esperado, Ciro directamente, evita a la perrita.  Además, como el es el perro Senior, tiene acceso a toda la casa y el cojín grande de delante de la chimenea es suyo.  La perrita, como todavía es cachorrita y está en esa etapa maravillosa en la que se intenta comer todo lo que pilla y además nos va dejando regalitos del tipo asqueroso por toda la casa, sólo puede estar en unas zonas determinadas. Así que de momento, entre la división de zonas y los mimos extra que le estamos dando,  Ciro sigue siendo el rey.

So far, things are going better than expected, Ciro avoids the puppy altogether.  Besides, he is the Senior dog, so he has access to the whole house and the big plump cushion in front of the fireplace is his and his alone.  The puppy is still little and is currently in that wonderful phase in which se tries to chew/eat everything that comes her way, plus, she keeps on leaving yuck presents (aka pooh and pee) all over, so she has limited access to the house and is only allowed in a few rooms.  So, up to now, with the distinct dog zones in the home and the extra pampering we are giving him, Ciro still feels like the king of our home.

Os dejo con estas fotos que le hice el otro día, le hice como 15 fotos y en todas salía guapísimo, en cambio a la perrita le hice como 20 y como es tan nerviosa y se movía tanto, salieron todas fatal y sólo pude utilizar una!

I'll leave you with these photos I took the other day of Ciro, I took about 15 pics of him and he looks gorgeous in all of them.  I also took about 20 of the puppy and they were all terrible, she is so nervous she would not stop moving, so I was only able to use one of them!
